Federation Software Supports Use of Step Standard AP 214

DENVER, CO - September 21, 2005 - Federation Software(TM), developers of solutions for the Federated Value Chain (TM), today announced that it will begin supporting STEP standard AP 214 (ISO 10303-214). STEP, an acronym for STandard for the Exchange of Product model data, provides a means of describing product data throughout the product lifecycle, independent from any particular system. The nature of STEP's capability makes it suitable not only for neutral file exchange, but also as a basis for implementing and sharing product databases and archiving.
As a marketplace leader, Federation Software will combine its proven technology, modern federated architecture and commercial off-the-shelf PLM Value Chain Connectors(TM) (VCC) with STEP standards. This will give companies a multi-enterprise collaboration capability that will allow them to effectively exchange all product content with their worldwide partners, customers and suppliers.
AP 214, the STEP standard targeted at core data for automotive mechanical design processes, describes the product and resource data of development process chains in the automotive industry. Supported processes within AP 214 span the entire product lifecycle - beginning with product definition and finishing with quality control.
