Farr Automation Moves to Ashland

Ashland - Farr Automation, Inc., designers and builders of automated equipment and robotic systems for industry, would like to announce the relocation and expansion of their business. Farr Automation moved their business from Richland County to the city of Ashland. They are operating in a 26,000 sq. ft. facility at 58 Sugarbush Court, previously owned and occupied by Nagle Manufacturing, just off of State Route 250 East.

Farr Automation opened for business in 1999. It occupied a portion of a 3600 sq. ft. building located in Butler Township, Richland County and had three part time employees. In 2001, they added on an additional 1500 sq. ft. to the existing building. By then, they were employing six full-time employees and covering all aspects of machine design, build, and integration.

The systems built at Farr Automation are designed to meet an industry specific need. Every aspect from the initial concept to delivery and set-up are handled in-house, utilizing ''state of the art'' design systems and equipment. Farr has installations from eastern Pennsylvania to Los Angles and from northern Michigan to Mexico.

Over the years, company growth has been exceptional. They currently employ 14 full-time and three part-time employees, and had outgrown their original location. After updates and improvements to the new facility were completed, Farr Automation moved to Ashland in the fall of 2006.

A move to Ashland had been in the plans for a long time. Farr Automation once rented their new location for a six month period during 2003 when they needed additional floor space to assemble a 40 ft. free-span weld fixture, with additional conveyor systems totaling 150 feet in length. They decided that this same facility was a logical step in the growth of Farr Automation.

Ross Farr, President and CEO, is glad to have moved the company to the city of Ashland. ''We worked with the Economic Development Counsel and Mayor Strine for a number of years to come up with a plan that suits our company needs as we grow,'' Ross said. ''Ashland has seen a number 'founding' industries being bought by international companies and subsequently shut-down.

''The vacuum left by the shut-downs has left a large, well trained, work force in place for companies like ours to expand our labor force and be competitive in the national and international market. Ashland provides a wholesome 'family first' environment that is hard to find in other areas and this fits our Corporate Plan.''
