Works with ThomasNet to Create New Web Strategy that Introduces Air Filtration Products to New Markets
Burlington, Ontario, Canada and Buffalo, N.Y.-Dec. 9, 2010-Fab-Tex Filtration, a leading manufacturer of industrial filters used in dust collectors and other air pollution control equipment, has partnered with ThomasNet to create a dynamic, new web strategy. The company aims to increase online exposure while diversifying into more markets, from large pharmaceutical manufacturing plants to small one-man welding shops.
Fab-Tex's customers range from Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM's) of pneumatic conveying equipment, welding fume extractors and industrial vacuum equipment to resellers and end users. Plant managers, maintenance staff and purchasing agents look to the Internet to source filters when they are in need. Marketing Coordinator Jackie Maclean says, "The filters Fab-Tex sells are a consumable. Buyers weren't responding to cold calls; they source filters when equipment is failing, so increased exposure on the Internet was the obvious choice as an avenue to expand our reach. Our ThomasNet program works as a 24/7 salesperson, accountable for the leads it delivers."
The company's previous website was more like a corporate brochure than a selling channel, not giving prospects a way to browse specific part numbers and compare features of their products. Management has determined that a more strategic use of the website, by introducing a cross-referenced catalog of thousands of part numbers, gives prospects confidence that they are contacting someone familiar with their equipment and able to provide solutions to their specific dust contaminant problems.
Fab-Tex deployed ThomasNet's Navigator Platform to help improve the content and navigation of its website, and better meet the needs of prospective buyers. As a result, prospects who enter part numbers or detailed product descriptions into general search engines like Google, or industrial destinations like ThomasNet.com, can find the Fab-Tex website more easily. The online catalog on the website allows users to select the filter they need, customize it to their particular application and order it fast, all from their desktop computer.
The technology platform enables visitors to:
o Search by major product categories, such as Cartridge Filters, Filter Bags, Pleated Filter Elements, Blower Filters and filter products for Vacuum Trucks.
o Compare up to five items at a time by multiple attributes. For example, prospects can compare Wheelabrator style or Farr style cartridge filters by outside and inside diameters, height and cap configurations, among other variables.
o Download literature on filter media options and fiber characteristics.
o Submit Requests for Quotes (RFQs) and attach files on a simple, easy to find form located on every page of the site.
"We are pleased with the increase of RFQ's and phone inquiries we are getting as a result of the new website," said Jamie Vachal, Vice President of Sales, Fab-Tex. "We are just at the beginning of what we predict to be a growth period for us, and our new web presence is going to ensure we are accessible to the increased number of buyers who are looking for filtration products online."
