ETSM Unveils New Foil Winding Machine, Expands Business Footprint

Guelph, Ont.  – ETSM Technical Services, for almost 30 years a leader in the custom design and manufacture of coil winding equipment and metal fabrication services, has created a new Foil Winding Machine, destined to ease customers in a variety of industries, including coil winding.

The new machine by ETSM builds on two previous machines from the company, and can now wind to three foils. Created thanks to customer demand, the new machine creates a new product line for ETSM, as it can now branch out into foil-winding.

The transformer industry is one that will be using the machine, as well as any other business that’s involved with in-house foil-winding.

The Foil-Winding Machine will reduce time constraints on customers and it allows the operator to program what they want it to do right at the machine.

The specifications of the machine can be changed based on the customer’s request, and the machine can reduce ergonomic issues on its operator.

Customers can now wind foil quicker and more efficiently, creating less physical stress on the operator. The new machine also allows for continuous repeatability in the product and the process.

ABOUT US:

ETSM, from 25,000 square foot headquarters in Guelph, manufactures its own product line of coil-winding systems, enclosures and related equipment for the electrical transformer and utility industries, while producing custom fabrications, machine guarding, automotive fixturing and replacement parts for regional customers in energy, automotive and mining industries. The company has three principal lines of business: custom machine design and manufacture, powder coating and custom fabrication.

“A client comes to us with a concept or a design and we work with them to produce exactly what they want,” said administrative vice-president Christine Dempsey. “There are very few companies in Canada who manufacture coil-winding equipment.”

Using machines like the new 4000-watt CL-840 laser, in combination with newer CNC machines, ETSM can meet any customers’ need, whether it’s a large order or a “one-off” project.

The company has grown consistently since its founding and now operates two buildings; the headquarters and a powder-coating facility also in Guelph.
