Epson to Demonstrate Latest Moverio® BT-200 Augmented Reality Applications and Host Technical Workshops at SIGGRAPH 2015

Award-Winning App Developer Sean McCracken to Present Live Coding Sessions on Epson Moverio Smart Glasses Platform at Booth #937

LONG BEACH, Calif. - Epson America will be demonstrating the latest consumer and enterprise applications on its Moverio® BT-200 augmented reality smart glasses at SIGGRAPH 2015 Aug. 11-13 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Additionally, Epson invites developers to stop by booth #937 to participate in live coding sessions and learn best practices for developing on the Moverio platform.

Sean McCracken, an award-winning augmented reality smart glasses app developer and CEO of Imaginary Computer, will host a variety of tutorials that will provide attendees an up-close look at how he develops his ground-breaking augmented reality applications on the Moverio platform.

"The variety of AR experiences and applications on the Moverio platform continues to rapidly expand and we're eager to share the latest innovations at Siggraph 2015," said Eric Mizufuka, product manager, New Ventures for Epson America. "From drones to training, to gaming and beyond, developers are creating the future of augmented reality on the Moverio platform."

Highlights of the latest Moverio BT-200 demos at the show include:

 • Mixed Reality VR/AR - McCracken will showcase his Maelstrom and AR-Man apps that allow users to literally walk through and interact with a digital world via the Moverio's transparent display.

 • AR Character Board Game - An AR multiplayer game by the graduate students from Carnegie Mellon University's Entertainment Technology Center (ETC). Players can battle head-to-head on the 1-to-1, transparent, 3D-strategy board game. The game is completely hands-free and characters are controlled via head movement.

 • Medical Device Training - CN2 of Atlanta, Ga. designed this app to assist in training medical staff on new device. The app displays step-by-step AR instructions over a WellStar® Atrium Express™ chest drainage system.

 • Drone Applications - A new HDMI input solution from Colorado Video allows Inspire 1 DJI drone pilots to see what the drone is seeing on the Moverio BT-200 while maintaining a clear line of sight. See the video here.

Leveraging Epson's patented core technologies, the Moverio BT-200 provides a binocular transparent display directly in the user's field of view, making it the optimal device for 3D augmented reality applications. Micro projectors located on each side of the lens project transparent overlays of digital content directly in the user's field of view over the real-world environment, while sensors enable head-motion tracking for hands-free navigation.

The Epson Moverio BT-200 smart glasses are available through select online retailers and direct from Epson for MSRP $699.99.
