EPL Empowers Customers with Business Intelligence Solution from Oracle

Small to Midsize Businesses Benefit from Oracle(R) Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g

REDWOOD SHORES, Calif., Jan. 16 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- EPL joins the growing number of small to midsize (SMBs) organizations benefiting from Oracle(R) Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g, Oracle today announced. EPL, an information-processing solutions provider to credit unions, implemented Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g, a key component of Oracle Business Intelligence 10g and Oracle Application Server 10g, to empower its customers with robust ad-hoc querying, reporting, customization, and Web publishing capabilities. The tool places critical business information in the hands of decision makers and helps them to track and improve key performance indicators (KPIs).

EPL, a top provider of software products and services that run a credit union's core business systems on-site or through an on-demand model, faces competition from two fronts: directly from other credit union solution vendors and indirectly from commercial banks that compete against credit unions with sophisticated financial products and services of their own. EPL sought to maintain its market position and continue to grow its business by creating automated business processes within its own solutions called iPower, that run the credit union's core business systems.

"For more than 25 years we have provided the credit union industry with solutions with a focus on power and versatility," said Joong Lee, Chief Architect, EPL. "We found those key characteristics in Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g, which is a great value. EPL customers now have greater control and timely, immediate access to important information, helping them to track the details that are key to their success and make better decisions that directly impact their business."

Birmingham, Ala.-based EPL migrated its computing systems to an open architecture that would support its projected growth and provide an adaptable IT platform for its products and services. EPL chose Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g as its ad-hoc query and reporting engine due to its integration with EPL's existing Oracle infrastructure products. With the company also running Oracle Database, Oracle Application Server 10g and Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g, the benefits of the integrated technology stack helped reduce a great deal of the implementation risk and delivered significant cost savings. EPL implemented Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g in the span of approximately 90 days and supports over 600 users.

Released in February 2005, Oracle Business Intelligence Discoverer 10g provides access to both relational (SQL) and online analytical processing (OLAP) data using a single, unified interface, accomplishing tasks that typically require two tools to perform. The product also includes improved reporting and publishing functionality as well as new customization capabilities that enable users to personalize their reporting views.

EPL is focused on enhancing its BI system and extending its value to its clients, and is evaluating the Oracle OLAP option and an Oracle-based data warehouse to potentially further assist its clients with business decision- making processes.
