Environmental Data Resources Enhances Historical City Directory Reports through Agreement with Digital Map Products

MILFORD, Conn., June 15 /-- Environmental Data Resources Inc. (EDR), the nation's leading provider of environmental risk information, today announced a strategic agreement with Digital Map Products Inc. (DMP) that will enable EDR to enhance the precision of the historical city directory reports that it provides to environmental professionals (EPs).

According to the terms of the new arrangement, EDR will access tax records aggregated by DMP's proprietary web services, including exact property lines. This will enable EDR to more accurately identify adjoining properties that should be analyzed in city directory resources.

EDR's historic city directory abstracts, which provide information dating back to the 1800s, are used by EPs to research the prior uses of properties and identify potential environmental conditions that may impact a property's value. City directory search results are provided at five-year intervals to enable EPs to track a property's changing uses over time.

"Our commitment to emerging technology led us to the agreement with DMP, which will mean more refined, accurate and reliable data for those who order city directory abstracts," said EDR CEO, Rob Barber. "This will allow greater insight into the environmental conditions that surround a property and add value to our reports, things we strive for every day."

To provide a full spectrum of historical reports for the environmental industry -- including city directory reports as well as Sanborn fire insurance maps, historical topographic maps and historic aerial photos -- EDR continues to expand and enhance the nation's largest database of millions of historical environmental records as well as its nationwide network of historical research professionals.

DMP, based in Santa Ana, Calif., aggregates property-related information for use in a variety of Internet-based subscription applications used by the real estate industry and government agencies. It is a pioneer in embedded Geographic Information Systems (GIS) that enable a more accurate assessment of properties beyond what is recorded by street address alone.

"While many organizations have amassed considerable digital content, it is the power of GIS-embedded applications that truly leverages content into valuable decision support information that can be used on a broad scale," said DMP CEO Jim Skurzynski.
