Emerson Named Main Supplier for China's Largest Refinery and Petrochemical Facility


Contract includes technology to maximize efficiency, safety of $4 billion project

AUSTIN, TEXAS (November 12, 2007) - Emerson Process Management, an Emerson business (NYSE:EMR), has been named main instrumentation provider for the largest integrated refinery and petrochemical project in China's history, the Dushanzi Petrochemical Corp. oil refining and ethylene project in Dushanzi City, Xinjiang, China.

The Dushanzi project includes the construction of 20 refining process units and 12 petrochemical process units. The refinery will produce 10 million tons of oil per year, or 200,000 barrels per day. The petrochemical part of the project will produce 1.2 million tons of ethylene per year. Crude oil feedstock for the project will be transported via the Kazakhstan-China Crude Oil pipeline.

Dushanzi Petrochemical, a wholly owned subsidiary of PetroChina Co. Ltd., has invested about US$4 billion (RMB 30 billion Yuan) in the project.

Emerson will supply more than 25,000 Rosemount® instruments, about 2,500 FIELDVUE® DVC6000 HART smart positioners, and 2000 Fisher® control valves, and more than 400 Micro Motion® Coriolis meters. The project is scheduled for completion by the end of 2008.

Micro Motion Coriolis technology from Emerson, ideal for a great number of gas and liquid applications, offers high accuracy measurement for a range of operating environments. While other measurement technologies may require additional pressure and temperature devices, a single Coriolis meter measures mass and density directly for improved efficiency and reliability in the process.
