Emedco Honors High School Seniors Worthy of a Gold Medal

WILLIAMSVILLE, NY (May 18, 2011)-- Emedco, a direct marketer and manufacturer of safety identification products, held its 6th annual Emedco Academic Excellence Awards program on Sunday, May 15. The program honored 100 students from 53 public and private high schools in Erie, Niagara, and Genesee counties and awarded $30,000 in college scholarships. This year's keynote speaker was 2010 Olympic Gold Medalist and Buffalo native, Steve Mesler.

The Emedco Academic Excellence Awards recipients are graduating seniors selected by their respective schools based on criteria established by Emedco, including rank in the top 10 percent of their graduating class, participation in at least one sports activity and serving their community or school in other activities.

The reception, held at Templeton Landing, was highlighted with a speech by Steve Mesler, winner of an Olympic Gold Medal in 2010 for the 4-man bobsled. Mesler stressed that hard work and dedication will lead to achieving goals, but he also reminded students that all of the hard work they've done up to this point will help them in college and beyond.

"The Academic Excellence Award Program is an excellent way for Emedco and Brady to recognize our outstanding local student leaders and give back to our community," said Charlie Gonzalez, vice president of sales, Direct Marketing Americas. "These high school seniors are the leaders in their schools today and will undoubtedly be some of our future leaders of tomorrow. I'm also extremely proud of the Emedco Academic Excellence Awards Program team. It takes the effort of a large number of our employees to make this event happen, and I thank them for their hard work and dedication in once again, making this event a huge success."

Approximately 300 people, including students, parents, guidance counselors, principals and Emedco volunteers were in attendance. Photos of the event along with the list of honorees are posted on www.emedco.com.
