Elcoteq Bangalore Receives Five Awards at the Chapter Convention for Quality Circles


ESPOO, Finland. - October 18, 2010 - Elcoteq Bangalore announces it has received award for manufacturing quality at the Chapter Convention for Quality Circles (CCQC), held September 19, 2010. CCQC is a platform for Quality Circles and is organized by Quality Circles Forum of India (QCFI) Bangalore Chapter.

The convention was organized for small group activity teams in TPM, LEAN, Six Sigma, QIT, KAIZEN, 5S, and CFT to participate in the case study competition. Elcoteq Bangalore was very successful in the competition. It participated in the convention with five teams and won five awards: a gold award, silver award, and three bronze awards.

Elcoteq Bangalore teams presented the following cases:
o Injury reduction at workplace (gold award),
o Reduction of scrap cost at component preparation stage at Vigor line (silver award),
o Eliminating battery wire issue at Taranga line (bronze award),
o Eliminating solder fillet issue in SMC connector soldering stage at Taranga Line (bronze award), and
o SMT productivity improvement in line 4 (bronze award).

The steering committee directed the core committee members to work on a structured road map in preparing the teams to participate in this forum. The team members were trained intensively on basic 7 QC tools and its applications, problem solving techniques, and introduction to Six Sigma.

Each quality circle team had to score a minimum of 60% to be eligible for the next level of participation. Winning in the Chapter Convention is a prerequisite to participate further in national and international levels of the competition.

Chapter Convention for Quality Circles 2010 had 220 quality circles competing from 66 companies in the case study presentation. The companies presented different industries such as automobile manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, food processing, aeronautical, EMS, and software solutions.
