Edward Tobolski Receives ASTM International Anthony DeBellis Award for Contributions to Mechanical Testing Standardization
W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., January 23, 2012-Edward Tobolski, a retired hardness product manager from Wrentham, Mass., has received the Anthony DeBellis Award from ASTM International Committee E28 on Mechanical Testing.
A past chairman of Committee E28, Tobolski currently chairs ASTM Subcommittee E04.05 on Microindentation Hardness Testing within Committee E04 on Metallography, and leads the Long-Range Planning group in Committee E28. An ASTM International member since 1986, he also works on Committees A01 on Steel, Stainless Steel and Related Alloys, B09 on Metal Powders and Metal Powder Products, D11 on Rubber, and the U.S. Technical Advisory Group to ISO TC164 on Mechanical Testing of Metals.
A 1960 graduate of Vineland High School, Vineland N.J., and a 1962 graduate of Salem Technical Institute, Penns Grove N.J., Tobolski earned a a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from the Bridgeport Engineering Institute (now part of Fairfield University) in Bridgeport, Conn., in 1982. He began his career at Wilson Instruments in Bridgeport, Conn., in 1975 and became engineering manager in 1982. He rose to the position of president at Wilson, and then joined Instron Corp., Norwood, Mass., in 1993 as a hardness product manager. He retired from Instron in 2007.
