Eagle Manufacturing Expands Large Part Blow Molding Capacity

Adds Davis-Standard Dual Head Machine

Pawcatuck, Conn. - A new dual accumulator head machine from Davis-Standard, LLC is helping Eagle Manufacturing grow its large part blow molding capacity. Eagle, a customer of Davis-Standard and its predecessor companies for more than 25 years, recently installed the machine to support manufacturing of large plastic drums and protective products. Eagle is recognized for its extensive and diverse blow molded product line, which supports safety industry customers worldwide.

"We continue to invest in Davis-Standard technology because it works for us," said Joe Eddy, president and CEO of Eagle Manufacturing. "Our technicians, mechanics and operators appreciate the equipment performance, and Davis-Standard's service has been readily available. We look forward to growing capacity for our industrial safety product markets, which have remained stable throughout the recession."

The new Davis-Standard machine features dual 40-pound accumulator heads with a 165mm AC vector extruder drive along with a 250-ton clear-platen clamp. The large clamp assembly is necessary for producing Eagle's line of spill containers/drums. These are available in 20, 30, 65 and 95-gallon sizes and constructed of chemical resistant high-density polyethylene. Other parts to be manufactured on the new Davis-Standard machine include barricades, column protectors, corner and wall protectors, poly ramps and dock plates, and machine guards.

"We are unique because we only sell products made here at Eagle, which are manufactured using a local labor force and domestically-produced raw materials," added Eddy. "We are a one-stop shop within the industry, taking products from concept, to design, to testing and market-ready."

Davis-Standard supplies a range of blow molding equipment including flexible, custom designed accumulator head blow molding systems with rapid color change, closed loop hydraulic and electronic controls, and state-of-the-art screw design for processing both polyolefins and engineered thermoplastics. System product capabilities include automotive, packaging, toys, recreational, medical, housewares and appliances.
