dSPACE Showcases AUTOSAR-Compliant Production Code Generator, Mechatronics Test System and Other Innovations at Convergence 2006

DETROIT, Oct. 16 // -- Breakthrough developments in control solutions for embedded electronics and mechatronics are being demonstrated by dSPACE, a German-based, high-tech company with its North American headquarters in Novi, Mich., at the 2006 Convergence conference, Oct. 16-18, at Cobo Center, Detroit.

dSPACE offers a complete tool chain of products to enhance development, testing and validation of real-time embedded controllers. dSPACE tools support model-based control design, rapid control prototyping, automatic code generation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) simulation and controller calibration.

At exhibit booth #1107, dSPACE will demonstrate the latest in embedded control development technologies. Highlights include:

o Meet AUTOSAR Compliancy with TargetLink® 2.2 -- Planned for release
in late 2006, dSPACE's new 2.2 version of TargetLink® features
powerful new components that convert model-based control systems
directly into AUTOSAR-compliant production code. AUTOSAR has emerged as
one of the most important initiatives in the automotive embedded
software arena, offering OEMs and suppliers standardized methods to
manage complexity, scalability, integration and distribution of control
functions among the numerous Electronic Control Units (ECUs) that are
in vehicles.

o Mechatronics Development Validation Test Bench -- MTS Systems
Corporation, in cooperation with dSPACE, will feature a live video
production of its proof-of-concept mechatronics development and
validation (MDV) bench. The mechatronics test system provides an
accurate, repeatable and highly efficient means of performing software
and hardware development and validation tasks currently executed with
prototypes on the proving grounds.

o Virtual Vehicle with Automotive Simulation Models (ASM) -- A critical
aspect of validating the ever-growing networks of automotive control
systems, ASM ensures that all vehicle ECUs perform their specific
vehicle functions in real-time simulations.

o RapidPro: Control Prototyping with the MPC5554 Microcontroller -- A
brand-new system for testing production code, this compact, stand-alone
prototyping ECU boasts the new MPC5554 microcontroller ("Copperhead")
from Freescale Semiconductor and is ideally suited for testing
production code as early as the function-prototyping stage.

o Rapid Prototyping: Intelligent I/O Handling, Conditioning and Power
Stage -- This demo showcases advanced engine-control management using a
stand-alone, model-based rapid prototyping tool that can control fuel
scheduling and spark timing. In addition, this demo exhibits
conventional time-based control of electronic throttles, general sensor
interfaces, plus thermal and accelerometer sensors.

o CalDesk -- dSPACE will demonstrate how rapid prototyping, calibration
and measurement tasks can be performed in minimal time with maximum
convenience with its CalDesk system. This calibration tool features
multiple hardware support, a dataset manager, and a built-in recorded
data analysis tool for creating and managing projects.

"Electronic controls are vital within today's high-tech industries," said Kevin Kott, president, dSPACE, Inc. "dSPACE systems provide a fully integrated environment for developing, testing and calibrating electronic and mechatronic controls. Our control solutions save our clients valuable development time and improved process quality."

Founded in 1988, dSPACE has its headquarters in Paderborn, Germany, and engineering project centers in Munich and Stuttgart, Germany. In addition to its Novi, Mich., subsidiary, the company has subsidiaries in France, Japan and the United Kingdom and distributors worldwide. Today, more than 12,000 dSPACE systems are in use worldwide, serving customers in the automotive, aerospace, agricultural, educational, engineering, robotics and noise & vibration industries.
