DP Technology Announces Expanded Sales and Technical Support in Asia

DP Technology Corp., a leader in the industry of computer-aided manufacturing (CAM), is pleased to announce that it is expanding its Shanghai office in China, which opened in March of this year, and has grown its Asian sales and technical support network to better serve its Asian customers.

As part of the expansion of its Shanghai Technical Center, DP has appointed Mike Lauer general manager of Asia-Pacific.

Lauer, who was formerly based in Japan, has been headquartered in the technical center since Nov. 1.

DP's new business development manager for Japan, Takafumi Sakamoto, is now assuming responsibility for DP's activities in Japan.

In his new role, Lauer manages all sales and marketing activities in Asia - with the exception of Japan - as well as countries of the Oceania (such as Australia), in addition to the operation of the technical center.

Lauer brings to his position more than 13 years of experience working in Asia- Pacific, and said he welcomes the new challenges.

"Living and working in Shanghai at this point in time is as exciting as it gets," he said. "China has completely changed since I was first here as a tourist in 1992. From my experience, I can see that now is the right time for a high-end CAM software like ESPRIT to ride the tides of this high growth."

"The Shanghai Technical Center is a key to DP's global expansion strategy and also highly complements the existing office in Tokyo," said Paul Ricard, president of DP Technology. "Most of our machine tool partners are still experiencing 20 percent annual growth rates in China. Our direct presence in China allows us to strengthen our partnerships locally and also provide real time technical support to our growing list of customers with manufacturing throughout Asia."

Another addition to the team in Asia is Scott Nelson, who, after seven years as an application engineer with DP Technology, has been promoted to technical service manager for Asia-Pacific. Nelson will manage the software and application engineering team in the Shanghai Technical Center and coordinate the effective use of the center's resources for customer support and software applications development. Nelson will continue to be based in the United States, but will spend half of his time in Asia.

In 2008, the ESPRIT marketing campaign in China will start with a bang: ESPRIT will be featured in southern China at the Shenzhen International Machinery and Moulds Show (SIMM 2008) March 28-31, and later at Die and Mould 2008, in Shanghai, May 12-16.

The ESPRIT Shanghai Technical Center is located in Waigoaqiao, a Free Trade Zone outside of Shanghai.

The new office is 45 minutes from the new Pu Dong International Airport, and the surrounding area hosts the offices of many international machine tool companies.
