DME Accepting Scholarship Applications for Spring 2013 Semester

Mold technologies leader encourages students to apply for $1,000 scholarships before Dec. 1 deadline

Madison Heights, Mich. - Attention college and trade school students interested in plastics: DME Company is accepting applications for its DME Plastics University® Scholarship Program. The leading manufacturer of mold technologies encourages students to visit the DME website for complete rules and information. The next application deadline is Dec.1, 2012, for courses beginning Jan.1 through July 31, 2013.

DME Plastics University is designed to support the plastics industry by ensuring the availability of a highly-skilled, well-trained workforce. The program's two components - a Student Scholarship and a Continuing Education Support Scholarship - provide funds to support students interested in plastics-related careers as well as to advance the skills of DME customers working in moldmaking and plastics.

This past July, DME awarded a $1,000 scholarship each to:

·Teng Yang of University of Wisconsin - Platteville, majoring in Industrial Technology Management

·Richard Heckbert of University of Massachusetts - Lowell, majoring in Plastics Engineering

"Technical and engineering skills are in high demand at companies across the plastics industry, including DME," said Dave Lawrence, President of DME Company. "We want to do everything in our power to encourage and financially support students and current employees in getting the training and education they need to thrive."

The outlook for the plastics industry is positive, according to a recent survey conducted by the American Mold Builders Association. Thirty-two percent of AMBA members said profits are up, compared to the 24 percent reporting increases in 2011. However, many plastics companies are struggling to find the skilled workers they need to maintain their momentum.

Over the past three years, the DME Scholarship Program has awarded more than 25 scholarships and grants totaling $25,000 as part of its Plastics University training partnership. More information, including details about Spring 2013 semester scholarships, is available at www.dme.net/education.
