Dimension Data Achieves Cisco Master Unified Communications Specialization

Master Unified Communications Specialization Recognizes Dimension Data for Industry-Leading Capabilities in Applications Integration, Lifecycle Services and Solution Selling

NEW YORK, Dec. 10 / -- Dimension Data, a leading IT services and solutions provider, announced today it has achieved the Master Unified Communications Specialization from Cisco® in the United States. This specialization recognizes Dimension Data as having fulfilled the training requirements and program prerequisites to sell deploy and support highly sophisticated applications-based Cisco Unified Communications solutions.

This specialization comes at a time when unified communications technologies are high on organizations' investment agendas, due in part to the rapid adoption of new technologies by IT users. According to a recent global research study on unified communications adoption commissioned by Dimension Data, an increasing number of companies are finding that unified communications is key to improving productivity, reducing costs, and providing a more real-time communications strategy for employees, partners and customers. The survey also indicates that unified communications technology will be widespread within the next two years. Achieving the status of Cisco Master Unified Communications Specialization validates the strength of Dimension Data's expertise in unified communications solutions and deployments.

"Dimension Data is proud to have achieved the status of Master Unified Communications Specialization from Cisco," said Tom Praschak, vice president of Convergence, North America, Dimension Data Americas. "The complexity and opportunity of emerging unified communications technologies requires integrators like Dimension Data to achieve the highest level of certification possible to help clients best utilize these technologies in their diverse environments. This certification makes a tremendous statement about Dimension Data's experience and expertise, as well as customer acceptance of our solutions and services."

Dimension Data North America has recently been recognized by Cisco with such awards as 2007 Unified Communications Partner of the Year and 2007 Outstanding Performance Enterprise Partner of the Year in the eastern United States. Dimension Data has been a leader in the IPT industry with the deployment of 900,000 IP phones and 2,000 IP network installations worldwide.

"To help turn the promise of unified communications into a strategic advantage, customers are demanding an enhanced set of skills and capabilities from channel partners," said Richard McLeod, director of unified communications for worldwide channels at Cisco. "The Master Unified Communications Specialization validates and rewards Cisco channel partners like Dimension Data for developing solution centric practices around unified communications."

To achieve the Master Unified Communications Specialization, channel partners must first attain the Advanced Unified Communications Specialization. Channel partners must then meet a series of stringent requirements in three categories: Technology Capabilities, Sales Expertise, and Life Cycle Services. Channel partners must possess a number of Cisco and industry- standard technical certification requirements; provide partner references that document Cisco prescribed design and deployment capabilities; and evidence that they have the infrastructure to support a full menu of Lifecycle Service offerings and capabilities.
