LAS VEGAS – Cost-Effective Platform Returns Control to Service Operators and Retailers with Award-Winning Dune HD Connect StickSTB
Digisoft.tv, a global provider of HTML5 set-top box (STB) software and Dune HD, a global leader in full HD media players and connected boxes, announce a new cost-effective consumer platform aimed at carriers and retailers. Based on the award-winning Dune HD Connect StickSTB™ with additional support for the company's full line of IPTV and OTT IP and hybrid CPE devices, the agreement encompasses distribution, systems integration, research and development and support.
The offering is centered around the delivery of hybrid and IP-based television services globally with Dune HD's innovative line of CPE products that feature powerful Sigma Designs chipsets, and offer support for MHEG-5 and HbbTV using Digisoft's Iris operating system. The combined Dune HD/Digisoft.tv product supports standard broadcast formats and rapid customization using HTML5 for the interface, including EPG, VOD and the App Store.
"The market for hybrid services is growing dramatically, particularly for operators where the digital switchover is underway or recently completed," said Konstantin Dyshlevoy, CEO, Dune HD. "Our CPE products enable operators to deliver content to the widest range of subscribers without replacing their existing TVs or having to find room for bulky set-top boxes. The combination of our simple, high-quality, plug-and-play design and compact form factors make Dune HD products cost-effective to install and support for operators, meaning they can generate revenues faster and with lower overhead. With our partner Digisoft, Dune HD devices can be easily tailored to meet individual operator needs."
Fearghal Kelly, CEO of Digisoft.tv, explains, "The Dune HD family of hybrid media players, combined with a Pay as You Go approach to both television and the App Store, will help service operators address the very real threat of cord cutting. Digisoft.tv is delighted to partner with Dune HD to provide leadership in this rapidly developing area."
The demonstration of Iris on Dune HD set-top boxes and dongles can be seen at NAB in the Dune HD Booth #SU11614 and at the Digisoft Meeting Suite at the Hilton Elara.
