Delumping Abrasive Food Materials

Salt is a common ingredient in many food products. Due to heat, moisture and storage conditions, salt often clumps together. To make it usable in food production, salt needs to be delumped prior to entry into the processing line. Existing physical plant layout and typical equipment configurations often require a compact in-line solution. Large vibratory sifters are often used to security screen salt; however, due to its abrasiveness, vibratory sifters are prone to screen failures. Blockages and bridging from lumps within the product increase downtime and decrease productivity of the process line.

The Quadro® Sifter offers a compact, in-line, high-capacity, vibration-free solution for today's efficiency-minded ingredient manufacturers. The Quadro® Sifter utilizes cylindrical one-piece screens which make them extremely strong allowing them to easily handle difficult products such as salt. In order to handle the lumps within the product, the Quadro® Sifter can be equipped with an optional spoiler arm adapter which gently eliminates agglomerations. The Quadro® Sifter's compact design easily fits in-line within existing process systems, reducing costly equipment customization.
