Datasym POS Systems Receives SIG-IS Certification
Datasym announced today they received their SIG-IS Certification and are on the list of eligible POS Vendors that accept Health/Flex Account Debit Cards. Currently, the
Datasym XR650 is the only SIGIS certified ECR (Electronic Cash Register) to accept
HSA/FSA debit cards. Independents who are not accepting HSA/FSA cards will now
have the opportunity to implement an affordable solution. The environmentally friendly
XR650 (1.1) is a cost effective POS system that provides the powerful, flexible
functionality of a PC system, without the threat of virus attacks or system crashes.
New IRS regulations required Pharmacies/Drug Stores to have an (IIAS) compliant POS
system in place by the June 30, 2009 deadline so they would be able to continue to
accept Health/Flexible Account (HSA/FSA) cards. Sig-is (Special Interest Group for IIAS
Standards) was formed to produce and promote a voluntary industry standard solution to
meet IRS requirements for operating an Inventory Information Approval System (IIAS).
SIGIS provides a list of eligible UPC # to assist retailers in determining which items are
eligible for use with Health/Flexible Account (HSA/FSA) cards.
At the checkout, the XR650 (1.1) identifies eligible IIAS items and separates them from
the non eligible, taxable/non taxable items in that transaction. The customer can pay for
the eligible IIAS items with their HSA/FSA debit card and have the option to pay the
balance with their credit/debit/gift cards, cash or check.
