Daniel J. Lemieux Receives Robert J. Painter Award from ASTM International and the Standards Engineering Society



W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., —ASTM International and the Standards Engineering Society have presented the 2012 Robert J. Painter Award to Daniel J. Lemieux, principal and unit manager at Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates Inc. in suburban Washington, D.C.



Administered by ASTM and SES, the Robert J. Painter Award is presented annually to an individual who contributes the most outstanding service to standards development in a given year. Lemieux was recognized for his exceptional contributions to consensus standards for building and construction, specifically building enclosure commissioning.



A member of ASTM International since 1995, Lemieux serves on Committee E06 on Performance of Buildings and is chairman of Subcommittee E06.55 on Performance of Building Enclosures. As E06.55 chairman, Lemieux helped facilitate the establishment of a joint agreement between ASTM International and the National Institute of Building Sciences (NIBS) in 2012 to develop a building enclosure commissioning certification and training program. Lemieux is also co-chairman of Task Group E06.55.09, and helped lead the efforts that resulted in the publication of ASTM E2813, Standard Practice for Building Enclosure Commissioning.



A graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Ga., where he received a bachelor’s degree in architecture, Lemieux joined Wiss, Janney, Elstner Associates in 1996. Since then he has successfully completed hundreds of projects involving building enclosure failure investigation, repair design and architectural rehabilitation, and has authored, co-authored and peer-reviewed several technical papers on building enclosure commissioning. He also served as author, co-author and contributing editor to the exterior wall chapters of the Whole Building Design Guide developed by NIBS.



Lemieux is a registered architect in Georgia, Maryland, New York, Virginia and the District of Columbia. In addition to ASTM International, he is a member of the American Architectural Manufacturers Association, the American Institute of Architects, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the Association for Preservation Technology International and the Construction Specifications Institute.
