Industry Veteran Brings Proven Track Record of Driving Technical Innovation and Revenue Growth

SAN JOSE, Calif., October 29, 2007 - Cypress Semiconductor (NYSE:CY) today announced the appointment of David Kranzler as Vice President of the Timing Solutions business unit, effective immediately. Kranzler brings more than 20 years of data networking and semiconductor experience, in both engineering and general management roles.

Kranzler recently served as senior vice president of Product Development at Savi Technologies, an early pioneer of RFID solutions that was acquired by Lockheed Martin. He joined Savi from Broadcom, where he served as general manager of the Ethernet Switching and Broadband Processor lines of business. At Broadcom, Kranzler managed the development and launch of numerous market-leading products, driving revenue growth and profitability. He also has held management positions at Gadzoox Networks and 3Com, and he started his career as an engineer at ROLM Corporation.

Cypress is an industry leader in timing solutions, having pioneered programmable clocks more than a decade ago. Cypress's best in class timing solution portfolio addresses a broad spectrum of market segments from consumer, communications and low-power portables, to industrial and automotive applications. Device programmability tied with easy-to-use tools and online software support helps Cypress customers reduce time to market and development costs in their applications. Today, the InstaClock(TM) solution offers custom frequency samples in minutes, as opposed to waiting weeks for custom samples from other suppliers.

"Our Timing Solutions business is an important part of Cypress's strategic direction in delivering programmable solutions for the broad market," said Dinesh Ramanathan, executive vice president of Cypress's Data Communications Division. "Dave's proven track record in building semiconductor businesses, and his experience in complex systems design, will help us to drive revenue growth in high-end communications and consumer market segments."

"Every electronic system needs a clock, and today's high-speed, complex systems need ever more flexible timing solutions," said Kranzler. "Cypress's patented programmable clock technology enables customers to shorten development times and simplify procurement. I'm looking forward to driving innovation and growing our market share."

Kranzler is named as inventor on five U.S. patents in data communications and system design. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a Masters degree in Business Administration (MBA) from Santa Clara University.
