Crowdsourcing Contest Launched for Scrap & Excess Inventory Product Ideas

Gibbs is offering prize money for the best ideas for the use, re-purpose, creation, service, or invention of a new product which utilizes one or all types of excess inventory or scrap, created by the coil slitting process. The top idea lands a prize of $1000.00, second place $500, and third place $300. Entries are judged by a panel determined solely by Gibbs. The contest website, GibbsMetalsContest.com, provides both a written and visual explanation of the material alloys and forms to be utilized by the entrants. An online submission form is provided for ease of entry. Supporting documents, images, and videos, are encouraged and may be attached to the online form for the Gibbs Panel to consider when judging the entry. Gibbs anticipates the contest will have the participation of students, inventors, employees, customers, and anyone with a unique and creative idea. Entrants must be 18 years of age and some exclusions apply.

Bill Torres, CEO & President commented, "This contest is the offshoot of the way we run Gibbs. We are constantly brainstorming and looking for creative solutions to persistent problems. We don't think that any one person or department has the market on good ideas. On the contrary, we think creative ideas can come from many areas. In fact, the more diversity in background, the greater the likelihood for something novel and exciting to be put forward. We are really looking forward to the submissions. We will be very excited to say: 'we never thought of that.'"

GibbsMetalsContest.com website launches December 1, 2017. The contest will run through March 1, 2018. Winners will be posted on the website and notified via email by May 30, 2018
