CPP Introduces Leadership Accelerator to Fast-Track Leadership Development

Focused Skills Development for New Managers Identifies Eight Key Areas Common to Top Execs

MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif., June 13 /PRNewswire/ -- CPP, Inc. (cpp.com), an industry leader in research, training, and organizational development tools including the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator® (MBTI®) assessment, strengthened its core offerings in leadership development with today's introduction of the Leadership Accelerator. Developed by CPP Professional Services, the Leadership Accelerator solution builds on the company's reputation for developing research validated products that advance leadership and achievement potential.

"As a leader, I am keenly aware of the critical need for succession planning," said Jeff Hayes, co-President of CPP, Inc. "I asked our research team to tell me if we could pinpoint specific executive skills that define top executives and develop a training program to accelerate those skills in new managers. The resulting Leadership Accelerator combines existing CPP assessment programs into a training process that helps new managers identify existing strengths and development areas and grow their leadership competencies."

The Leadership Accelerator combines CPP's leadership research with industry standard assessments and training, all in one comprehensive solution. Based on research data of over 6,500 workers, the Leadership Accelerator was designed to identify development areas within a set of eight measurable leadership skills, then deliver an accelerated one-year training program to help new managers become senior leaders.

In designing the Leadership Accelerator, CPP created a new training program using the CPI 260(TM), MBTI® Step II, and FIRO-B® assessments to benchmark participants against eight CPI 260 characteristics where top executives achieved the highest scores. The Strong Interest Inventory® assessment and a 360 degree tool are also used when applicable. Participants will take the same tests before the training and 12 to 24 months later.

CPP found differences between top executives and supervisors using the 70-point scale employed by the CPI 260 assessment:

o Dominance: Top Executives scored 64.6; Supervisors scored 59.1
o Capacity for Status: Top Executives scored 61.5; Supervisors scored
56.0
o Self Acceptance: Top Executives scored 61.1; Supervisors scored 59.0
o Independence: Top Executives scored 64.4; Supervisors scored 57.8
o Empathy: Top Executives scored 63.8; Supervisors scored 60.2
o Achievement via Independences: Top Executives scored 62.8; Supervisors
scored 59.6
o Insightfulness: Top Executives scored 60.3; Supervisors scored 57.8
o Tolerance: Top Executives scored 60.9; Supervisors scored 59.3

"Based on over 50 years of research into leadership development products, we know what a successful leader looks like," said Hayes. "Given the recent headlines spotlighting the problems companies face internally and externally when executives are irresponsible or do not hold themselves accountable, leadership development that targets all the characteristics that define a great leader, including Empathy as well as Independence, is more important than ever. CPP can help businesses develop leaders with this essential mix of characteristics and can fast-track the development process."
