Corning Cable Systems to Highlight Data Center Solution at 2006 BICSI Conference

BICSI exhibit to contain real-life data center and testing lab environments

HICKORY, N.C.  Corning Cable Systems, part of Corning Incorporated's Telecommunications segment, is highlighting its data center solution at the 2006 BICSI Conference, Jan. 22-26 in Orlando, Fla.

In its interactive exhibit (booth #1001-1003), Corning Cable Systems' products will be featured in a literal representation of a data center network. The exhibit will contain a raised-floor environment "deployed" with Corning Cable Systems' Plug & Play(TM) Universal System products. The Plug & Play Universal System is a preterminated optical fiber cabling system that dramatically streamlines the process of deploying an optical network infrastructure in the premises environment. It eliminates fiber polarity as a factor in system design, redesign or installation through a value-added wiring solution.

In addition to the data center model, Corning Cable Systems' exhibit will contain a model testing lab environment with splice and test equipment. The lab will house the Corning Cable Systems Model 500 Optical Multitester, an optical testing platform designed to meet virtually all optical testing needs, and its OptiSplice(TM) Premier iLID Fusion Splicer, ideal for networks demanding low-loss performance and accuracy.

Along with the Plug & Play Universal System products and the test and splice equipment, the interactive exhibit will contain:
o UniCam® Connector demo, a hands-on demonstration showing the simple process of installing varying types of the field-installable connector.
o Pretium(TM) Connector Housing, a premium rack-mountable housing for local area networks and data centers.
o The Fiber Zone Box, a distribution facility ideal for passive applications in zone cabling applications.
o Gel-free cable in a variety of cable designs, featuring specially engineered dry waterblocking tapes and yarns instead of the standard messy gel.
