Corning Cable Systems Introduces Multi Fiber Preconnectorised OSP Solution

LISBON, Portugal -- Corning to Launch the Multi FIBER version of its Established Preconnectorised OSP Solution at the FTTH Council Europe Conference 2010

Corning Cable Systems GmbH & Co KG, part of Corning Incorporated's (NYSE:GLW) Telecommunications segment, will present its Multi Fiber Preconnectorised OSP Solution at the FTTH Council Europe Conference 2010 on Feb. 24-25, in Lisbon, Portugal.

Corning Cable Systems' Multi Fiber Preconnectorised OSP Solution enables outside plant (OSP) fiber access networks that require more than a single fiber to benefit from its enhanced design flexibility, increased deployment speed and reduced initial installation costs.

Using Corning's patented OptiTip(TM) MT Connector technology, up to four fibers per customer can be rapidly connected without the need for expensive fusion splicers or installation skills.

This multi fiber plug 'n play solution enables the advantage of preconnectorised outside plant to be used in a multi fiber environment. "It is now possible to take advantage of the widely recognised benefits of preconnectorised drops in FTTH networks, where more than one fiber per customer is required," said Dr. Thomas Knuth, Business Manager FTTH Systems, Corning Cable Systems EMEA. "The additional fibers could be necessary for open access networks or simply for reasons of future-proofing the network."

With its ruggedised Multi Fiber Preconnectorised OSP Solution, Corning continues to reinforce its commitment to providing innovative fiber-optic solutions to the industry and enabling communities to explore new horizons.

Corning Cable Systems will confirm its leadership in fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solutions by displaying its Multi Fiber Preconnectorised OSP Solution on the Corning exhibit (stand G12). Visitors will be able to speak with Corning Cable Systems' technical experts to learn first-hand how this innovative Evolant(R) product set can expand opportunities for work and leisure to individuals, businesses and communities.
