Conventus Polymers is Named New Distribution Partner for EMS-GRIVORY America's Specialty Nylons in U.S. and Canada

Parsippany, N.J., July 8, 2020 – Conventus Polymers LLC, a leading distributor of high-performance engineering thermoplastics, has been named an authorized distributor of EMS-GRIVORY's extensive line of specialty nylons in the U.S. and Canada. The agreement with the Swiss-based and global producer covers a broad range of specialty nylon materials including EMS-GRIVORY’s Grilamid® TRtransparent nylon, Grilamid® L nylon 12, Grivory® GV partially aromatic nylon, and Grivory® HT high-temperature PPA product portfolios. These products are based on amorphous, cycloaliphatic, long-chain: PA 12, PA 1010, PA 612, PA 610, partially aromatic, and polyphthalamide (PPA) nylon chemistries.

Conventus will sell the range of EMS-GRIVORY specialty nylons primarily for injection molded applications in non-automotive metal replacement of zinc and die cast in structural components and applications requiring high transparency, chemical resistance, and toughness. These markets include electrical, plumbing, oil and gas, consumer, healthcare, and lighting.

Conventus offers a highly technical focus, unique expertise, and strong relationships with key OEMs. The company’s focused approach within key end-use markets and its ability to develop new applications will be critical in expanding penetration of EMS-GRIVORY specialty nylons in the U.S. and Canada.

“We are excited about the partnership with EMS-GRIVORY because we share similar values and a strong commitment to offering our customers the best specialty thermoplastic solutions available,” said John Jorgensen, President of Conventus Polymers. EMS-GRIVORY's portfolio of specialty nylons expands Conventus’ high-temperature portfolio which already includes PPSU, PES, PSU, PEEK, PPS, and is unparalleled in the industry. “Our goal is to expand penetration in many non-automotive markets where specialty nylons are gaining traction, being more readily adopted, and experiencing rapid growth,” said Jorgensen. “We are excited to develop applications with EMS-GRIVORY. We are building on many successful newly commercialized applications and expect to continue that momentum in new applications and markets that fit the EMS-GRIVORY focus on metal replacement with Grivory® GV and Grivory® HT."

While the reputation and brand awareness of EMS-GRIVORY's partially aromatic and high-temperature nylons in metal replacement applications has been well known for many years, EMS also offers many new unique solutions for the industry. EMS’ Grilamid® TR90 transparent and cycloaliphatic nylon offers better chemical resistance, light transmission, ductility, and barrier properties compared to polycarbonate and other clear resins. Conventus’ strategy to align its business with global industry leaders is further solidified by this agreement with EMS-GRIVORY. Conventus will provide all technical marketing, account management, application development, and customer service support.

“We’re excited about our new partnership with Conventus and will further expand the EMS-GRIVORY specialty nylon product portfolio with the strengths in high-performance polymers, application development, metal replacement and the strong presence in market segments outside of automotive that Conventus offers,” said Darryl Goodwin, Business Manager for EMS-GRIVORY America.
