West Chester, OH (April 28, 2021) – Contech® Engineered Solutions recently earned six National Corrugated Steel Pipe Association (NCSPA) Project of the Year Awards. The prestigious industry recognition is awarded annually in ten categories including Corrugated Steel Pipe (CSP)/Pipe Arch Projects, Structural Plate Projects, Rehabilitation Projects, Retention/Detention Projects, DOT Projects, Special Applications, Going Green, ALT2 Coating, Polymer Coating, and Galvanized Coating.

“From solutions for a community emergency and promoting safety on a college campus to an eco-friendly, green solution, Contech is unrivaled in our ability to overcome our customers’ project challenges.” stated Doug Witten, senior vice president - pipe for Contech.

Contech NCSPA Projects of the Year

Retention/Detention – Fulfillment Center in Rialto, California
To address growing demands of its shoppers, an online retailer expanded with a new distribution center complex. The project included an 11,100 LF, 162-inch diameter, Contech CMP Infiltration System to address the stormwater management requirements, providing 1,588,038 CF of storage in the pipe with an additional 1,368,742 cubic feet of storage in the stone backfill.

CSP/Pipe Arch & ALT2 Coating – Miami-Dade County Emergency Reline in Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Miami-Dade County and David Mancini & Sons, Inc utilized a HEL-COR® ALT2 solution manufactured by Contech Engineered Solutions to reline an existing culvert. To complete the emergency culvert reline, the 137.5 LF of 120-inch HEL-COR liner pipe was installed in a completely submerged condition.

Structural Plate & Galvanized Coating – JMU Land Bridge in Harrisonburg, Virginia
The James Madison University (JMU) project team proposed the JMU Land Bridge to increase student safety while providing a crucial connection from the Skyline area to JMU’s East Campus, including Paul Jennings Hall. The Land Bridge was constructed using a BridgeCor® galvanized, deep-corrugation structural plate arch system manufactured by Contech.  The 128-foot long bridge-tunnel has a 60'-5" span and 20'-8" rise and spans an existing 2-lane road.

Going Green – Clallam County Tributary to Johnson Creek in Sekiu, Washington
The Johnson Creek project involved removing a fish barrier and replacing it with a fish-friendly, bottomless arch, commonly referred to as an aquatic organism passage (AOP). A 28’ span x 17’-3” rise BridgeCor® Structural Plate Arch was installed in less than eight days, meeting the allotted timeframe, and allowing the salmon to successfully move upstream in time for the first spawning season.
