New ink jet system prints directly on lumber to eliminate cost and labeling problems. A labeling version is also available.
Albany, OR - December 29, 2008 - In partnership with Grade Tech Systems Inc. of Lake Stevens, Washington, Concept Systems, Control Engineering Magazine's 2007 System Integrator of the Year, today announced the availability of two new lumber barcode applicator systems, giving customers the option of using printed labels or printing bar codes directly on lumber. The new BoardMark family of products places highly reliable, readable barcodes on the ends of lumber without the use of staples or hot-melt adhesives.
The two product versions are the BoardMark-DP, which prints barcodes directly on boards with a UV-curable ink substrate, saving label costs and waste, while eliminating the safety issues with staples and maintenance issues and cost of hot-melt adhesives. The second product version, BoardMark-LB, utilizes barcode labels with an amazing rubber-based pressure-sensitive adhesive backing that adheres to any lumber surface, whether it is wet, split or rough-cut, and will survive the elements, even when it is freezing cold, or when the humidity is extreme.
Both BoardMark systems can be configured to mark boards at different stations of the manufacturing process. For example, they can be used in-line at the trimmer outfeed, or they can be used at the stacker outfeed or packaging infeed stations, or even off-line completely at a stand-alone marking station to mark packages at the mills convenience.
The systems, which incorporate dual PCs, three Domino A300 printers and a small Allen-Bradley PLC, are a better alternative to other board marking systems. Unlike other marking systems, barcodes applied by the BoardMark systems are weather resistant, and have high readability and a high rate of application. This reduces labor costs by eliminating manual labeling and relabeling. And since no staples or hot-melt adhesives are involved, the new marking systems are also safer for people to use.
The BoardMark systems are ready for installation now.
