Con-way Multimodal Appoints C. Thomas "Tommy" Barnes and Greg Orr to Leadership Team


New President and Vice President of Operations to Drive Domestic and Global Expansion Goals

PORTLAND, Ore., and ANN ARBOR, Mich. - Oct. 27, 2010 - Con-way Multimodal, a division of Con-way Inc.'s (NYSE: CNW) operating unit Menlo Worldwide Logistics, today announced the appointments of C. Thomas "Tommy" Barnes and Greg Orr to the roles of president and vice president of operations, respectively. Con-way Multimodal arranges third-party carrier services for over-the-road, intermodal, flatbed, heavy haul and specialized transportation for freight shipments.

As president of Con-way Multimodal, Barnes is responsible for the strategic growth, financial and operating performance of the company. Specifically he will evaluate opportunities for global expansion and capitalize on all internal synergies with Con-way Inc.'s business units. Greg Orr is taking on an expanded role as vice president of operations managing all current operations and leading key expansion efforts.

Barnes joined Menlo Worldwide in 2000 as transportation project manager and subsequently served as a senior logistics manager and in other operational and account-facing roles prior to his most recent position as director of transportation procurement. Prior to Menlo, he was Newell Rubbermaid's director of transportation for North America and Europe. Barnes began his career with GATX Logistics as transportation manager for the company's Chicago operations. He holds a bachelor's degree in business logistics and transportation from the University of Tennessee.

Prior to his new role, Orr was vice president/general manager at Con-way Multimodal's Portland, Ore., operation where he was responsible for all profit and loss-related activity. He also managed the creation and implementation of overall strategy, with key objectives emphasizing customer/carrier and employee satisfaction, revenue growth and margin maximization.

Orr joined Con-way Multimodal from Greatwide Dedicated Transport in Dallas, where he was vice president of operations overseeing 16 locations across the United States. Prior to that, he was vice president/account general manager at Schneider Logistics. Orr had previously spent nine years in various management roles at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. He holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Southern Indiana.
