Con-way Inc. Named to CIO Magazine 2010 CIO 100 List

Company Recognized for Business Intelligence Platform Driving Advanced Predictive Analytics and Strategy Execution

SAN MATEO, Calif. - June 10, 2010 - Con-way Inc. (NYSE: CNW) today announced that IDG's CIO magazine has honored the company by naming it to the 2010 CIO 100. The 23rd annual award program recognizes organizations around the world that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT). Con-way previously appeared on the list in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2009.

"This year's CIO 100 awards draws well-deserved attention to companies that are not only innovating with IT but creating genuine business value as well," said Maryfran Johnson, editor in chief of CIO magazine & Events. "These winning companies and their IT organizations are an inspiration to businesses everywhere."

The publication recognized Con-way in honor of the Advanced Business Intelligence (BI) Platform utilized by its less-than-truckload operating company, Con-way Freight, which leverages technology to create a single comprehensive view of all corporate data. Through this new capability, knowledge workers throughout the organization are able to perform advanced strategic analysis, continuous improvement analysis, predictive analytics, performance management and process automation in virtually all functions of the business. The BI platform has been instrumental in supporting a number of key initiatives, such as Con-way Freight's True LTLSM Pricing. IT team members began working on the project in 2007.

"Being named to this prestigious list is a tremendous honor that spotlights the skills of our talented staff," said Jacquelyn Barretta, Con-way's chief information officer. "Their dedication and commitment to the project resulted in an integrated, comprehensive, high performance BI platform that is already driving results across the enterprise. I congratulate the team on this significant achievement."

The recipients of this year's CIO 100 award were selected through a three-step process. Companies filled out an online application form detailing their innovative IT and business initiatives. Next, a team of judges reviewed the applications in depth, looking for unique practices and substantial results. Finally, CIO editors reviewed the judges' recommendations and voted on the final 100. Complete coverage of the 2010 CIO 100 awards appears online at www.cio.com and in the August 1 issue of CIO magazine.

The 2010 CIO 100 awards will be presented at the Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., on August 24 at the conclusion of the 12th annual CIO 100 Symposium® and Awards Ceremony.
