Comcast Opens New Customer Service Center and Washington State Headquarters

LYNNWOOD, Wash., Aug. 1 -- Comcast, the nation's leading cable and broadband communications provider, today announced the opening of a new $20 million call center and state headquarters at the Opus Northpointe Corporate Campus, near the intersection of I-5 and 164th Street Southwest.

"Comcast's expansion in Washington keeps family-wage jobs in the state and confirms the recent Forbes.com news that ranks Washington as the 5th best state in which to do business," said Washington Gov. Chris Gregoire.

Added Snohomish County Executive Aaron Reardon: "I am very pleased that Comcast has chosen to expand its regional headquarters and call center here. The decision is recognition of Snohomish County as a welcoming environment of economic opportunity in which to invest and succeed."

Comcast built the new 87,385-square foot facility at 15815 25th Ave. W to meet the ever-growing demand for its products and services, including the company's Triple Play package, which lets customers bundle video, high-speed Internet and phone services for one low monthly price.

The regional headquarters and call center opened this week with 350 employees, but has room to house more than 500 employees as Comcast expands to meet demand for new services. The call center is one of three Comcast operates in Washington state. The other two are in Everett and Fife.

Together, the three centers employ 1,000 customer service representatives and take calls from 1.2 million Washington customers. Comcast is committed to providing local customer service. Nearly all calls made by Comcast Washington customers are handled by company-trained representatives in Fife, Everett or Lynnwood.

The $20 million investment from Comcast includes a 10-year lease, equipment and specific improvements made to the facility. Among the building's features are: 24-foot high ceilings on the main call center floor with industrial lighting and exposed ductwork; a state-of-the-art fitness room; a multipurpose room with seating for 100; three specially designed employee training rooms; and, ergonomic work stations. A 2,000 square foot cable store where customers can exchange equipment, pay bills, see product demonstrations and meet face to face with Comcast customer service representatives is slated to open later this summer.
