Cobar CEO Receives IPC's Distinguished Committee Service Award

Anaheim, California, USA, February 9, 2006 - Eli Westerlaken, CEO of Cobar Europe, (www.cobar.com) was presented a Distinguished Committee Service Award by the IPC - Association Connecting Electronics Industries - for his contribution to the development of the IPC standard J-STD-006B, "Requirements for Electronic Grade Solder Alloys and Fluxed and Non-Fluxed Solid Solders". This standard prescribes the nomenclature, requirements and test methods for electronic grade solder alloys; for fluxed and non-fluxed bar, ribbon, and powder solders, for electronic soldering applications; and for ''special'' electronic grade solders. This standard is one of a set of three joint industry standards that prescribe the requirements and test methods for soldering materials for use in the electronics industry: IPC/EIA J-STD-004 Requirements for Soldering Fluxes; IPC/EIA J-STD-005 Requirements for Soldering Pastes; and IPC J-STD-006 Requirements for Electronic Grade Solder Alloys and Fluxed and Non-Fluxed Solid Solders for Electronic Soldering Applications.

The award was presented at IPC Printed Circuits Expo®, APEX® and the Designers Summit at the awards luncheon on Thursday, February 9, 2006 in Anaheim, California.

Westerlaken, however, was quick to pass credit for the award to Cobar Europe's technical team. "This certainly could not have happened without the many hours of hard work and talent that our engineering team put into this project" Westerlaken said. "I'm pleased to accept this award, but on behalf of our team members. It really belongs to them."

Distinguished Committee Service awards are presented to IPC committee members who have made an exceptional contribution to a specific standard or other IPC program. Any person who is actively involved on an IPC committee is eligible, except members of the board of directors. This award can be given more than once. For more information, visit www.IPC.org.
