CMP Launches 'The Wisdom of Clouds' Web 3.0 Interface

Provides original way for users to peruse ideas within Internet Evolution's ThinkerNet blogosphere

MANHASSET, N.Y., Nov. 29 / -- CMP's Internet Evolution (www.internetevolution.com), a Website dedicated to investigating the future of the Internet, today announced that it has added a completely original Web interface designed to help users browse the plethora of opinion stored in its ThinkerNet blogosphere.

Called "The Wisdom of Clouds," the graphical user interface (GUI) allows site visitors to take a virtual flight through a cloud bank of all ideas generated by more than 80 world-famous contributors to the ThinkerNet, and drill down to read the ones that are of interest. Users receive a tutorial in how to navigate the cloud from Internet Evolution's video avatar.

"Every day, Internet Evolution publishes at least three new blogs about the future of the Internet. After only two months, we found that our users needed a new and more efficient way to tap into the ideas on the site," says Stephen Saunders, Internet Evolution's Founding Editor. "We're calling our new interface 'The Wisdom of Clouds' as an ironic homage to James Surowiecki's 'The Wisdom of Crowds,' which we happen to think is complete nonsense. And we're referring to it as a 'Web 3.0' interface because we know it will really annoy all the alleged experts who talk pretentious twaddle about the Internet and its various iterations."

Since its launch in October, CMP's Internet Evolution site has quickly become known for providing an antidote to the boosterism and hype that has always gone hand-in-hand with the Internet (often with disastrous results). Its writers view the future of the Internet through a prism of pragmatism - cutting through the "conventional wisdom" to provide an overdue dose of realism about where the Internet is really headed.

Contributors to the ThinkerNet include John Hinshaw, Boeing's CIO; Dr. Lawrence Roberts, inventor of packet switching and one of the world's foremost authorities on telecom network architectures; Jack Uldrich, futurist, scholar, and author; Craig Newmark, the founder of Craigslist.com; Philip Rosedale, CEO of Linden Lab, the company that develops and maintains Second Life; John Grimes, CIO of the U.S. Department of Defense; and Dr. Hamadoun Toure, Secretary-General of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), all of whom are addressing today's critical socio-economic issues.
