City of Rapid City, S.D., Chooses Tyler Technologies' ERP Solution to Streamline Financial Operations

City selects Munis for its functional fit, proven efficiencies and strong client references

Tyler Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: TYL) has signed a contract with Rapid City, S.D., for Tyler's Munis®enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution to fully integrate the city's finance, human resources and payroll applications. The agreement includes related professional services, training and support.

Munis replaces the city's legacy financial system, which couldn't integrate across departments, as well as several standalone systems used by multiple city departments. As a fully integrated system, Munis addresses all of Rapid City's current and anticipated functional needs. The city also will implement Tyler Content Manager, which is completely integrated with Munis.

During its competitive review, Rapid City searched for a software solution that would provide traditional financial management applications, including budget preparation and forecasting, accounts payable and receivable, fixed asset management, grant management, and other accounting procedures. In addition to core financial system needs, the city wanted a solution that would enable comprehensive human capital management applications such as applicant tracking, benefit administration, self-service for managers and employees, and payroll functions.

"We chose Tyler largely because of its proven technology platform, its success with other clients, and how well Munis met our functional requirements. We expect to gain efficiencies, improve processes and give users better access to data," said Rapid City Finance Officer Pauline Sumption. "We also were attracted by the ROI from Tyler's evergreen philosophy, which includes all future Munis updates as part of annual maintenance fees. Additionally, Tyler's financial strength positions them to be a solid long-term technology partner for Rapid City."

"Tyler is pleased that Rapid City found Munis to be a strong functional fit that will help streamline business processes and reduce costs," said Chris Hepburn, senior vice president of Tyler's ERP School Division. "Our success with other municipalities provided Rapid City with the confidence that implementing Munis is the best investment of its taxpayer dollars."

Rapid City is South Dakota's second-largest city and is 25 miles from the Mount Rushmore National Memorial. The city has more than 740 full-time employees and serves nearly 70,000 residents. The state's largest city, Sioux Falls, licensed Tyler's Munis solution in 2012.
