Christie Renews Partnership with Cannes Festival for Further Three Years

Christie®, world leader in digital projection solutions for the film industry, today announced the renewal of its partnership with the organising body of the Cannes International Film Festival for another three years.

Christie has been one of the event's Technical Partners since 2006, and will be providing all the digital projection equipment for the Cannes Festival in its 65th year from 16th to 27th May 2012.

As Technical Partner, Christie provides 2K and 4K DLP Cinema® projectors for screening the works to be shown at the Festival in some twenty digital auditoriums.

Each year, the main projection rooms in the Cannes Palais des Festivals are equipped with projectors from the Christie SolariaTM range meeting DCI recommended standards (Digital Cinema Initiatives). The Christie Solaria range is a future-proofed one, and perfectly suited to 4K digital cinema and High Frame Rate projections brought in by the directors James Cameron and Peter Jackson. What's more, Christie's Brilliant3D(TM) technology gives the brightest 3D experience of any in the market, with a power rating of up to 34,000 lumens.

Since they first came on the market in 2010, Christie Solaria projectors have been central to the development of digital cinema in France and elsewhere, winning enthusiastic acceptance from independent operators as well as multiplexes. Today Christie equipment is to be found in more than half of all digital projection rooms - over 28,000 projectors in use.

"The Cannes CST, the body responsible for projection's technical aspects at the Cannes Festival, is delighted to be working with Christie. The partnership between Christie and the Festival helps us guarantee an outstanding quality of projection," said Pierre William Glenn, chairman of the CST (Supervisory Technical Committee for Sound and Image).

Pascal Gervais, Manager of Christie France, commented "This renewed three-year Technical Partnership with the Cannes Festival confirms Christie's high reputation in the film industry and - because of the demanding qualification process deployed by the CST - proves our commitment to offering nothing but the best in terms of image for one of film's most prestigious events."
