Charmilles-Mikron Participates In Global Technology Day


Lincolnshire, Illinois, October 6, 2005 - Charmilles-Mikron recently participated in the first ever Technology Day hosted by parent company Georg Fischer. The event took place in Schaffhausen, Switzerland on September 27 and offered market analysts, investors and journalists the opportunity to gain insight into current and future trends within the company.

Kurt E. Stirnemann, CEO of Georg Fischer, stressed the importance of innovation as not only the key to success, but as a precondition to sustainable growth by the company. The heads of each of Georg Fischer's corporate groups outlined key technological trends within their respective industries, along with their companies' strategies for maximizing growth within their markets.

Charmilles-Mikron was represented under the Agie Charmilles Group, one of the pioneers and current world-leader in the field of EDM. Focus was given to the company's role in high-speed milling, detailing how the technology's emergence has opened up new processes in machining and manufacturing. The information presented highlighted the trends towards miniaturization of numerous technologies and the need for highly customized production runs.

Over the last year, Georg Fischer as a whole invested over $88 million in research and development.
