CAS DataLoggers Announces New Novus FieldLogger Software Upgrade

Version 1.2.2 Now Available for Novus FieldLoggers

CHESTERLAND OH - CAS DataLoggers together with Novus Automation are proud to announce the latest software upgrade for the bestselling Novus FieldLoggers. Version 1.2.2. adds improved functionality while also addressing known issues. These versatile DAQ and SCADA systems are versatile, powerful and yet cost- effective data loggers handling analog, digital and other types of variables at high resolution and speed. This high performance and high connectivity piece of equipment is surprisingly easy to configure and operate, making it ideal for a wide variety of industrial and manufacturing applications.

Notably, the new upgrade adds a significant improvement in the export speed of all downloaded data and also in chart viewing, especially useful when processing a large amount of data which are now exported to several smaller files. Modbus-TCP communication has also been enhanced, lowering instances of communication errors. Resolved issues include fixing of certain string translations, corrections made on the Diagnostics screen, and other user-suggested changes. For example, the folder path of the downloaded data (when downloading from a folder) is now saved for future use.

The Novus FieldLogger has 8 configurable analog inputs that can read thermocouples, Pt100, Pt1000, and voltage and current signals. The data logger also features 2 relay outputs and 8 digital ports individually configurable as inputs or outputs. An A/D converter enables 24-bit measurements up to 1000 samples a second with 0.2% accuracy of the span for thermocouples, and 0.15% of the span for other input types.

Additionally, the device's compact design (164 x 117 x 70mm) makes it ideal as a portable solution. Up to 128 mathematical channels can be used to perform operations on the measured values, and as many as 32 alarm events can be detected, allowing output activations, e-mails and SNMP traps sending.

The FieldLogger's RS485 interface can operate as a Modbus RTU master or slave. As a master, it can read and log up to 64 external channels. The datalogger has a 10/100 Mbps Ethernet interface that allows for access through a browser (HTTP), FTP (client and server), e-mails sending (SMTP), SNMP and Modbus TCP. The FieldLogger also has a USB interface enabling connection with a computer for quick configuration, monitoring and data download, and another USB port for plugging a flash driver for quick data retrieval. The 512k logging basic memory is used to store data and it can be greatly expanded with an SD card.

An exclusive color HMI can be attached or remotely installed for local indication or configuration. A user-friendly configurator software can be accessed by Ethernet, USB or RS485 and also provides means for online monitoring, logged data downloading and exporting to spreadsheets and other formats.
