Carmanah Honoured For Sustainable Technology at World Expo in Japan

Victoria, BC, Canada - September 21, 2005 - Carmanah Technologies
Corporation is proud to announce its receipt of the Global 100 Eco-Tech
Award, a high-profile international environmental honour, at the 2005 World
Exposition in Aichi, Japan.

Carmanah's David Davies travelled to Nagoya City to accept the award in
person at the ceremony on September 1, 2005.

"This award recognizes Carmanah success in addressing global environmental
challenges with its energy-efficient light-emitting diode (LED) lighting
products such as illuminated signs, pedestrian beacons, marine and aviation
lights, and solar-powered illuminated bus stops," said Carmanah's CEO Art
Aylesworth

Globally, lighting accounts for up to one-third of electricity consumption
and 2.9 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide emissions per year. With over
250,000 energy-saving LED lighting products installed in 110 countries,
Carmanah Technologies is helping to significantly reduce lighting's
environmental footprint.

Carmanah will use the cash prize of one million yen (C$10,700) to initiate a
scholarship at the University of Victoria.

The world exposition, the first of the 21st century, is being held until
September 25 in Aichi, Japan. The event's theme is 'Nature's Wisdom',
focusing on the environment and sustainable technology.

The Global 100 Eco-Tech Awards, sponsored by the Japan Association for the
2005 World Exposition is one of two official awards at Expo 2005. The awards
recognize 100 technologies from 24 countries that "contribute significantly
to the resolution of global environmental issues and to the creation of a
sustainable future for humankind and the Earth."

A 13-member committee of experts selected the winners from more than 280
submissions proposed by governments and international organizations. Five
Canadian companies were chosen for nomination by the GLOBE Foundation of
Canada, and Carmanah was one of just two Canadian winners.

Overseeing the awards ceremony was Expo 2005 Chairman Shoichiro Toyoda, the
honorary chairman of Toyota Motor Corporation.
