CARBO Ceramics Announces New Distribution Facility in South Texas

IRVING, Texas, Feb. 1 -- CARBO Ceramics Inc. (NYSE:CRR) hosted Open House activities to mark the Grand Opening of its trans loading facility located in Alice, Texas. The $2.7 million product storage and loading facility is located close to South Texas customers' areas of activity, to provide timely delivery of a broad range of CARBO's ceramic proppant products.

"This latest expansion is another example of our commitment to the oil and gas producers in South Texas," said David Gallagher, vice president of CARBO Ceramics. The 44-acre Alice facility can store 40 loaded cars on the tracks, giving total storage capacity of 8 million pounds of product. Efficient delivery is also facilitated by a portable belt conveyor, which allows loading 50,000 lbs (one truck) in approximately 30 minutes.

Because the storage is in rail cars, the new facility provides CARBO's South Texas customers with a broader range of products. "CARBO is dedicated to bringing optimized fracture conductivities to South Texas oil and gas producers," Gallagher added. "Our new Alice facility allows us to provide the region with speedy delivery of a larger volume of a broader range of CARBO products, including our newest product CARBOHYDROPROP(TM) 40/80, focused on slick water fracturing. Our commitment to add value to our customers' reservoirs continues."
