Canon Middle East Announces Winners of 2010 Awards in Partner Conference


Awards recognise contributions of company's regional partners in achieving 2010 directions and targets

Dubai, UAE, 12 December 2010: Canon Middle East, leader in imaging solutions, has announced the winners of its 2010 Awards that were handed out during Canon's Partner Conference that was recently concluded with the theme "Reaching New Heights" at the Qasr Al Sarab Desert Resort in Abu Dhabi.

The awards recognised the strong contributions of Canon's Middle East partners in achieving 2010 directions and boosting the company's overall performance, particularly in helping Canon post two consecutive years of positive market share growth.

We also believe that the remarkable growth trend that we have achieved over the past two years is a reflection of the excellent relationship we have with our partners in the Middle East. It is therefore only fitting that we recognise their efforts through Canon's Partner Conference and the 2010 Awards. The winners of the B2B Awards were Canon Emirates from the UAE in the Office Business category; General Electric and Technology Company from Oman in the DIMS category; and El-Ajou Trading Company from Saudi Arabia, which received a Special Recognition Award for its role in a groundbreaking deal to supply 379 units of ImageRUNNER Advance C5040I to the Princes Noura University.

Canon Emirates has been recognised for making the most significant advances in office business revenue through design, development and execution of creative and effective sales and marketing activities in 2010. Canon Emirates registered a double-digit market share growth from 8 per cent in Q1-Q3 2009 to 16 per cent in 2010, while maintaining the highest growth for the IRADVANCE machines. General Electric and Technology Company; has been recognized for successfully adjusting its work practices in 2010 that resulted in a significant boost of the performance of the DIMS business in Oman's financial sector.

The other award nominees were El-Ajou Trading Company and Naser Mohamed El-Sayer from Kuwait in the Office Business category, and ATIC and AlBadry from Iraq.

In the B2C Awards, National Stores won in the DSLR category for its excellent performance in increasing Market share for DSLR through Tier 2 Focus, and a strategic focus on the Dubai Duty Free Channel. Other nominees in the DSLR category were Salam Studio & Stores, Al Quraishi Trading Company, and Advanced Digital Imaging.

Al Quraishi Trading Company received the award in the Digital Still Cameras (DSC) category in recognition of its excellent growth in DSC through Tier 2 Focus in Consumer Electronics Channel and many retail-based activities. Also nominated in the category were National Stores, Nasser Mohamed Al Sayer (NMAS), and Media Diffusion.

Salam Studio was presented the award in the DVS category, recognising its strong performance in LEGRIA, with increased High Definition Ratio and Tier 2 Focussed activities. Also nominated in the category were Al Quraishi Trading Company (AQTC), National Stores, United Electrnic Company (UEC), Silicon21, and Nasser Mohamed Al Sayer (NMS).

The winner in the Inkjet category was El-Ajou, which achieved an excellent performance in the Retail Channel through increased presence and Instore Activities. Others nominated were Salam Studio and National Stores.

Picking up the award in the Laser category was Silicon21 for its excellent performance in Egypt, wherein it strengthened Canon's presence in IT Dealer Channel with IT Dealer-based activities and Tier 2 Seminars. Also nominated in the category were ADI, Diffazur, and Media Diffusion.

Diffazur was adjudged winner in the OPP Channel Development and Market share Gain category in recognition of its excellent effort in OPP sales in Morocco through Tier 2-Focussed IT Channel coverage with activity management and setting up of the Diffazur Club. Other nominees were Silicon21, Genetco, and Salam Studio.

Salam Studio also received the President's Award for delivering very strong and consistent sales results across all product categories. Salam Studio's performance has been well above budget and sales targets, with clear focus on Tier 2 activity management in line with the Canon direction for 2010.
