Original Press Release:

Bearing Specialists Association Rolls Out Substantive Business Program for 2008 Annual Convention

Glen Ellyn, IL--The Bearing Specialists Association (BSA) has announced three key speakers to headline the association's 2008 Annual Convention April 26-29 at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort, Tucson, Arizona.

Convention programming is closely tied to the association's Strategic Plan which identifies BSA as "the forum to enhance networking, knowledge sharing, and to promote the sale of bearings through authorized distributors." The 2008 business program features an outstanding line-up of speakers selected for their ability to address the diverse needs of today's business marketplace:

Jim Cathcart on purpose-driven leadership. Cathcart believes that people must have a reason to become self motivated. The more they know how what they do helps others and their company, the more initiative they will exert. Employees who continually learn more about their company, their industry, their customers and themselves will be purpose-driven rather than process-driven. They will make a difference.

Jeffrey J. Fox introduced the concept of dollarization in How to Become a Rainmaker and How to Become a Marketing Superstar. Fox believes that every day good companies suffer because they create financial value for their customers but aren't able to keep their fair share. This is because most marketers cannot fully articulate the value customers get from their products and the argument falls to the lowest common denominator -- price. "Dollarization" calculates the monetary gain a customer receives in exchange for the price paid. Fox points out that the theory is applicable globally, to the yen, euro, and other currencies. Fox was named "Outstanding Marketer" by Sales & Marketing Management magazine and the National Industrial Distribution Association.

"Laugh at Fear" is Frank Miles' response to his near-death hang-gliding experience and long road to recovery. With help from the audience, Miles uses magic, juggling, unicycling, acrobatics, music, and even fire eating to illustrate the simple truths that can free them from self-imposed and imprisoning fears that are the #1 obstacle to success.

In addition to Cathcart, Fox and Miles, BSA will also welcome Bruce Warmbold, president of the Schaeffler Group, and representing the American Bearing Manufacturers Association (ABMA) to present an industry update on the global bearing marketplace.

Speakers, however, are just one aspect of the 2008 Annual Convention business program. BSA's manufacturer-hosted Conference Table Session offers participants a unique opportunity to pre-schedule and plan for face-to-face meetings to address bearing industry concerns and resolve business problems. Convention attendees find these short, 30-minute meetings to be increasingly productive.

Online Conference Table registration is available to all those who have registered to attend the 2008 Annual Convention. All distributors planning to attend the Conference Tables Session are encouraged to register as soon as possible to assure that they obtain appointments at their desired times. Distributors are also encouraged to let manufacturers with whom they have made appointments know what they expect to discuss with the manufacturers. Online Conference Table Registration will be available February 1 - April 1, 2008. After April 1st, convention attendees wishing to schedule Conference Table sessions may do so if space is available onsite April 26 & 27 at the BSA registration desk (closes 7:00 p.m. April 27).

Prospective convention attendees are encouraged to link to the association's convention website, www.bsaconventions.org which includes a complete schedule of events, video clips of the key presenters at the Convention Business Program, details on the expanded spouse program new to the 2008 schedule, tantalizing descriptions of sporting and sightseeing opportunities, and a host of additional information and tips about social and networking opportunities.

Loews Ventana Canyon Resort
BSA is especially pleased to welcome 2008 convention attendees to Loews Ventana Canyon Resort. Nestled in the foothills of the Catalina Mountains, Ventana Canyon Resort is one of the first "natural" resorts and has always been committed to preserving the area's natural resources. It was designed and built to leave centuries-old cacti and an 80 foot waterfall undisturbed. Ventana is Spanish for window. The resort recently designed a two-mile, educational nature path called the "Window Walk" that provides views of native vegetation, a natural waterfall, and flowering gardens designed to attract butterflies and hummingbirds. In addition to its ecologically responsible reputation, Loews Ventana Canyon Resort is also well-known for its outstanding amenities. It has been ranked in the 2007 issue of Travel and Leisure Golf as one of the World's Best Golf Resorts! The resort's Ventana Room is the only AAA Five Diamond Restaurant in Arizona. BSA's convention website also features easy, point-and-click access to reservations at Loews Ventana Canyon Resort.

Enhanced Spouse Program
BSA has expanded the traditional spouse program in 2008, inviting those spouses in attendance to the Opening Breakfast & Business Session at 7:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 27th. Speaker Jim Cathcart is recognized as one of the world's best keynote speakers who has spent 30 years helping people grow their business and expand their life by teaching them to rethink their work, their relationships and themselves. On the next day after a separate breakfast, spouses are encouraged to attend the BSA Business Session featuring Frank Miles' presentation, Laugh at Fear.

In addition to the business program, BSA convention attendees consistently rate the informal networking opportunities at the convention and related social events to be one of the most valuable aspects of the annual event. The opening reception & dinner, manufacturer appreciation event at Coyote Corral, BSA golf and tennis competitions, and closing dinner dance add to the networking opportunities and fun for all attendees.

BSA is the "must belong to organization for authorized bearing distributors." An international service and educational organization of distributors representing a total of almost 100 companies distributing factory-warranted ball-, roller-, and anti-friction bearings and invited manufacturers of bearings and related products, the association's mission says, "BSA is the forum to enhance networking and knowledge sharing and promote the sale of bearings through authorized distributors."
