Brocade Launches Tapestry Partner Program to Meet Growing Demand for New Solutions

SAN JOSE, Calif., Oct. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Brocade Communications Systems, Inc. (Brocade(R)) (NASDAQ:BRCDE) today unveiled the new Brocade Tapestry(TM) Fabric Partner Program -- providing training, certification, marketing, sales, and technical support for resellers and integrators selling the Brocade Tapestry suite of IT infrastructure solutions. Initial members of this program, including Apptis, Bell Microproducts Inc., FlexITy Solutions, Insight Investments Corp., MTI Technology Corporation, Nth Generation Computing Inc., Stack Computing Inc., Strategic Concepts Group, and TotalTec, are leading solution providers who will receive accreditation status highlighting their expertise in delivering Tapestry solutions to customers.

Brocade Tapestry solutions are designed to optimize the utilization of server and storage resources in shared storage environments. Launched in June 2005, the Tapestry family includes applications that enhance and extend the benefits of storage networks, an area where Brocade's SilkWorm family of SAN switching products has established a leadership position over the past ten years. The Brocade Tapestry Fabric Partner Program complements the existing Brocade Fabric Partner Program for SilkWorm products, which has helped the company establish the largest ecosystem of networked solution providers in the IT industry

"The Brocade Tapestry family is designed to help IT organizations reduce the cost and complexity of their operations while accommodating the growing need to ensure compliance and accountability," said Tom Buiocchi Vice President of Worldwide Marketing and Support at Brocade. "We have seen significant interest from solution providers since we launched the products and have designed the new program to equip these partners with the tools to capitalize and deliver on the increasing demand for intelligent infrastructure."

"The Tapestry Partner Program encourages channel partners to leverage the breadth of Brocade's expertise and leadership in bringing innovative new products to market," said Janet Waxman, Vice President Hardware Channels and Alliances, IDC. "Brocade's Tapestry solutions are designed to help organizations maximize the value of shared storage as a tool to drive a more dynamic business environment."

Tapestry Wide Area File Services (WAFS)

The Tapestry WAFS solution is designed to enable file sharing over a WAN with "LAN-like" performance, addressing the complexity, compliance, and cost challenges of organizations with remote offices by enabling centralized management and protection of data files. Instead of maintaining and backing up file servers outside of the data center, administrators can install a central Tapestry WAFS "core" appliance in the data center and an "edge" appliance at each remote site. The resulting solution is designed to deliver high-performance file access to remote locations while ensuring that the data remains safely stored on file servers in the central data center. The improved consolidation and control of files helps to manage storage investment and utilization while greatly simplifying data backup, recovery, and other management tasks. Tapestry WAFS offers native integration with Microsoft Windows Server 2003 infrastructure and the rich set of storage technologies enabled by the Windows Server platform, and it provides the ability to deliver data over the WAN using key security features inherent in the Microsoft Windows Server 2003 platform.

Tapestry Application Resource Manager (ARM)

As enterprise customers increasingly move to higher-density clusters of servers or bladed server computing environments, the increase in server and application count places severe pressure on operational costs associated with provisioning, allocating, and managing the server, software, and storage resources. Brocade designed the Tapestry ARM solution to reduce the time and costs associated with server, software, and storage provisioning -- as well as follow-on reprovisioning -- from hours to as little as a few minutes.

The solution uniquely automates and manages the complex relationships between server hardware, operating system images, application software, and data and storage resources -- ultimately lowering operating cost through automated and rapid deployment, provisioning, and assignment of servers to applications.
