Brady Corporation Establishes the Brady Corporation Foundation to Support Leadership Development in Its Communities

MILWAUKEE, Nov. 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Brady Corporation (NYSE:BRC) has announced the establishment of the Brady Corporation Foundation, a nonprofit, non-stock corporation which will serve as the company's primary vehicle for charitable contributions. The focus of the foundation will be on developing a pipeline of future leaders who will positively impact the communities in which Brady operates. Brady Corporation has funded the foundation with an initial gift of $1.0 million.

The Brady Corporation Foundation will work to make significant, long-term grants to non-profit organizations focusing on three primary areas of development: formative development that ensures a positive start through youth outreach programs and community outreach organizations; skills development that provides the right building blocks through primary and secondary school programs; and leadership development to refine skills at the college level and beyond. Prospective grant recipients will be solicited by the foundation through a "request for proposal" process only, and priority will be given to organizations in which Brady employees are involved.

"Recognizing that people are our most important asset and an essential part of our growth strategy, the foundation's focus is to invest in tomorrow's leaders in order to ensure a consistent stream of talent for our businesses and our communities," says Frank Jaehnert, president of the foundation, and president and chief executive officer of Brady Corporation.

"As a global corporation, we accept the challenge of making sure the communities within which we live and work are enhanced through the involvement of our employees, the benefits of our products and our financial support," said Allan Klotsche, chief operating officer of the Brady Corporation Foundation and vice president for Brady Asia Pacific. "While our efforts have been historically focused on southeastern Wisconsin, our employees around the United States and in the rest of the world are equally as passionate about Brady's involvement in their communities, and as such we will look to further expand the foundation's programs and focus in the future."

"We are very excited to be able to play a larger and more visible role in developing community leaders," said Carole Herbstreit, Brady director of corporate communications. "Brady has a strong history of supporting education in the greater Milwaukee area, which is the home of its corporate headquarters. For example, the Brady Academic All-Stars program has recognized nearly 2,000 area students for their outstanding achievements both inside and outside of the classroom. Over the last 15 years, this program has awarded more than $450,000 in college scholarships. By adding to this and other corporate contribution programs through the Brady Corporation Foundation, we can have an even greater impact on current and future generations."
