Bosch Software Innovations receives Merlin Award for "Best Innovator"

Chicago - Bosch Software Innovations, software and systems unit of the Bosch Group, received the 2011 Merlin Award in the category "Best Innovator" from the German American Chamber of Commerce of the Midwest (GACCoM). The company's eMobility Solution - a web-based software solution for electric vehicle charging infrastructure - received one of three Merlin awards presented at the GACoC's annual event held May 6th in Chicago. With 300 top executives from German-American businesses in attendance, the signature event acknowledges companies that have shown outstanding excellence in the categories of "Best Innovator", "Best New Company", "Best Service Provider", and "Excellence in Training & Education".

"Receiving the award for 'Best Innovator' is a testament of our contribution in the field of eMobility and emphasizes our dedication to excellence", said Troy Foster, chief technology officer, Bosch Software Innovations. "This is a great honor and we are energized and thrilled by the recognition."

The Bosch eMobility solution provides a user-friendly system for all eMobility stakeholders, making the use of electric vehicles more convenient and easy to use, while offering great benefits to target users - such as drivers, utilities, location-based service providers, fleet operators, charging station operators and automakers. It serves as a common software and IT platform that supports and integrates the core processes for the eMobility infrastructure, including identification of drivers and charging of electric vehicles, billing of energy consumption and services, and finding and reserving charging stations.
"The eMobility Solution provides a critical piece in the evolving smart grid infrastructure," details Foster.

Flexible and scalable

The eMobility Solution serves as a common software and IT platform that supports and integrates the core processes for the eMobility infrastructure, including identification of drivers and charging of electric vehicles, billing of energy consumption and services, and finding and reserving charging stations. Using open software architecture, other stakeholders have the ability to connect individual IT systems to the eMobility Solution. This allows for the exact customization of business models and fosters the development of a vibrant business ecosystem. The costs of setting up area-wide infrastructure solutions are shared which - in combination with new business opportunities - promotes the development of the fast growing electric mobility market.

In 2010, Bosch Software Innovations received the Merlin award for "Best Service Provider" in recognition of its achievements in supporting Credit Risk Management and Basel II within the Global Risk Management community. Companies such as Fannie Mae, Capital One, and Scania Financial Services use Bosch Software Innovations' Credit Risk Rating Platform to develop flexible and transparent credit risk rating models.
