Bosch Rexroth to Exhibit Newest Drive and Control Packaging Technology at PACK EXPO 2014

Demonstrations of drive, motion and controls products, along with in-depth working presentations of mechatronics, anti-slosh and anti-vibration systems will be shown at booth S-3551 at PACK EXPO 2014 in Chicago, November 2-5.

During PACK EXPO 2014, applications experts from Bosch Rexroth will exhibit the latest automation technology for packaging machinery, including drives, controls, linear modules, and conveyors. Rexroth's booth will highlight vibration-damping strategies, mechatronics at work, cabinet-free drive technology, versatile packaging conveyors, integrated safety, design software and more.

IndraDrive Mi cabinet-free drive technology: Compact, efficient and economical

Rexroth's IndraDrive Mi cabinet-free drive solution features maximum flexibility and efficiency for machine engineers and operators. By merging drive electronics and motors into an integral unit, it virtually eliminates the drive electronics in the cabinet leading to a reduction in cabinet size and wiring by up to 90 percent. The IndraDrive Mi also reduces energy loss in the cabinet by up to 90 percent.

The newest generation features additional safety functions, extended communication options, intelligent control functions and an energy-efficient power supply, making it more useful and versatile than ever before.

Adaptive Systems to control movement for more productivity

Rexroth Adaptive Systems technology in the company's IndraMotion MLD motion controllers provides the intelligence to apply vibration damping and avoidance control methods, which can increase throughput and extend machine life in processes where sloshing, vibration and sway cause problems. Adaptive Systems technology can extend machine life, increase throughput by up to 50 percent and improve productivity by up to 40 percent.

Open Core Engineering for packaging: The new age of automation systems

With Rexroth's award winning Open Core Engineering, flexibility in machine programming and engineering becomes a reality. Open Core Engineering is a software tool that allows programmers and engineers to use high-level languages to write their own software functions, which then run as low-level real-time applications directly on the control, or on external devices such as PCs or smart devices. With the ability to choose between varieties of high-level programming languages, integrate smart devices into packaging automation systems and manage individual control functions, Open Core Engineering will provide freedom and efficiency for packaging OEMs to easily customize software engineering solutions.

IndraControl XM21/22 programmable logic controller

The new IndraControl XM modular control hardware devices combine the speed of the Sercos automation bus with the new IndraControl S20 I/O series into one modular and functionally complete control system.

The IndraControl XM control platform is available for a variety of motion-logic applications. By integrating the IndraControl S20 I/O series into the platform, Bosch Rexroth expands the control system flexibility for high-performance process linkage.

Linear motion technology for efficient production

Efficient automation systems for food processing and packaging applications require reliability, smooth and nearly friction-free motion and a broad range of flexible components that can be easily integrated into mechatronics solutions.

Linear motion technology from Bosch Rexroth offers multiple products and systems to drive packaging productivity to new levels. Engineered to support higher speeds, higher load capacities and pinpoint precision, Rexroth's linear motion portfolio features an exceptional range of proven products, including the Omega Module OBB, NRFG ball rail systems, screw assemblies, linear modules and EMC electromechanical cylinders.

VarioFlow plus next-generation conveyor systems

The VarioFlow plus flexible chain conveyor system is a versatile, high-performance and standardized system ideal for achieving a fast time-to-market. With this chain conveyor system, users can easily configure individual, space-saving solutions for complex transportation tasks, even in particularly difficult environments.

The modular and flexible design of the VarioFlow plus makes it ideal for use in packaging. It features fast and smooth assembly, economical hardware, compact drives, minimized noise and wear, and efficient Rexroth MTpro planning software with Layout Designer.
