Bosch Presents Seamless System for the Primary and Secondary Packaging of Bar Products

At Interpack 2011 in Düsseldorf, Bosch Packaging Systems, a Bosch Packaging Technology company, presents its new bar packaging line. The system consists of the horizontal flow wrapping machine Sigpack HRM and the cartoner Sigpack TTM. It is the first true system designed specifically for the primary and secondary packaging of bars and bar-shaped products. The result of decades of experience in packaging technology, the bar line addresses the key requirements of bar producers, from speed and hygiene to ease of operation, flexibility and efficiency.
The bar packaging line is designed as a single, seamless system rather than a chain of machines. To achieve a reliable and optimized production flow, the speeds of all components in the line are balanced to eliminate bottlenecks and minimize downtime. The cartoner Sigpack TTM was developed for speeds of up to 150 cartons per minute, enabling an overall output of a 1,000 bars or more per minute. The new bar packaging system, including station, accumulator, flow wrapper and cartoner as well as all the interfaces are part of one single design. This makes operation of the entire line as simple as operating a single machine and reduces the risk of operator errors, which can cause lengthy and costly production stoppages. Standardized parts and components, as well as high visibility and accessibility, simplify cleaning and maintenance. Automated precision splicing at high speeds of up to 150 meters per minute means operators simply have to place new reels into the splicer, reducing the risk of human error. The accuracy of the splicing process reduces waste and saves material costs. Cleaning and format changeover times are reduced to just minutes through optimal accessibility, tool-less changeover and innovative changeover strategies.

In addition to high availability, the system also addresses the present and future market for flexibility. Packaging formats and styles can be changed as needed and the line can be modified for cold, heat and even ultrasonic sealing. In addition, the cartoner Sigpack TTM is capable of handling materials with a high recycling content to comply with increasing sustainability demands.
