BorgWarner's EFR Turbochargers Continue Winning Reputation

BorgWarner's Race-Proven Turbocharging Technology Continues to Deliver Powerful Performance and Durability for INDYCAR, American Le Mans Series and Time Attack Champions

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. – BorgWarner's second year as the official turbocharger supplier of the IZOD IndyCar® Series reinforced its reputation for durability and powerful performance. BorgWarner's EFR (Engineered For Racing) turbochargers maintained their no-incident track record after logging nearly 450,000 miles during practice, test, qualifying and race events over two complete IZOD IndyCar Series seasons. EFR turbochargers also boosted the 2012 U.S. Time Attack and 2013 World Time Attack champions as well as the American Le Mans Series LMP2 champion for 2011, 2012 and 2013, all without incident.

"From INDYCAR to Time Attack, high-revving vehicles endure punishing thermal stresses, vibration and pressure. BorgWarner's latest EFR turbochargers deliver a winning combination of quick response, powerful performance and reliable durability even in these extreme environments," said Frederic Lissalde, President and General Manager, BorgWarner Turbo Systems. "Our solid track record reinforces BorgWarner's reputation in materials expertise, aerodynamic techniques and innovative engineering. We are pleased to contribute to the success of these racing professionals."

With a range of units supporting 225 to 1,000 horsepower per turbocharger, BorgWarner's EFR Series offers an unprecedented combination of advanced technologies designed to boost the performance of downsized engines while improving fuel economy. Streamlined EFR turbochargers for the IZOD IndyCar Series feature low-weight, race-proven Gamma-Ti turbine wheels and shaft assemblies for quick boost response. Patent-pending ceramic ball bearings increase thrust capacity and durability while improving turbine efficiency at low expansion ratios. The investment cast stainless steel turbine housing also increases efficiency, improves durability and resists corrosion.
