Bookham Appoints AMS Technologies as Pan-European Distributor

San Jose, CA - September 23, 2005 - Bookham, Inc. (NASDAQ: BKHM), a leading provider of optical components, modules and subsystems, today announced the expansion of its existing agreement with AMS Technologies AG to distribute its components to the telecommunications market in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.
Munich-based AMS will now be distributing all of the Bookham industry-leading telecommunications components to customers in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, the UK and Ireland.

Representatives from AMS Technologies' Munich facility are already working closely with the Bookham applications engineering team in order to develop a full understanding of the company and its products. The portfolio includes state-of-the-art transmitters, receivers, erbium-doped fiber amplifiers (EDFAs), transponders, transceivers and the recently released range of tunable laser-based devices.
