Benefitfocus Launches eEnrollment Express

CHARLESTON, S.C., Nov. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Joe, a 40-year-old executive of a start-up company, spends his day performing many corporate tasks to keep his company afloat. Joe's time is precious and when it comes to managing the health and life insurance benefits of the 25 employees at the company, it needs to be quick and easy.

Benefitfocus, the leader in software and services for the healthcare benefits market, today launched a new benefit enrollment offering, eEnrollment Express, specifically designed to address the needs of small employers such as Joe who have limited time and a great deal of other responsibilities. Through a simple interface, users like Joe can quickly add new employees, make changes, and move on to other pressing issues.

eEnrollment Express allows small employers, generally defined as having fewer than 50 employees, to quickly and effectively manage benefit enrollment and eligibility information in a simple-to-use and relevant format. The application gives small employers all the tools they need to make benefits decisions without burdening them with too much information. The application has been adopted by five Blue Cross and Blue Shield plans nationwide.

"The owner of a small company is often the person managing employee benefit programs, and he or she needs a straight-forward way to do this," said Nancy Sansom, Vice President of Product Management for Benefitfocus. "For example, we found that it is a huge help to be able to view the status of all employees immediately. As a result, Benefitfocus designed a home page that shows the business owner a list of employees with important status information as soon as he or she logs into the system."

Interviews with HR Administrators and small employers conducted by the Benefitfocus User Experience Group revealed a market need to create an enrollment offering specifically designed for small employers. The feedback has also been applied to other Benefitfocus product offerings and has played a key role in improving the online benefits management experience of small employers.

eEnrollment Express offers small employers fourteen enrollment and eligibility reports. In addition, the application allows group administrators, brokers, employees and health plan representatives to manage all types of enrollment transactions including: new hires, open enrollment and renewal, employee terminations, COBRA enrollment, rehires, demographic changes, primary care provider changes, Medicare, other insurance, prior insurance and salary changes.

The eEnrollment Express design is based on the "one-to-many" concept and allows small employers to mange all employee benefits in one location. The application integrates with financial institutions allowing for health savings account (HSA) enrollment and ongoing management capabilities. The complex integration available through the eEnrollment Express and all other Benefitfocus products is made possible through the Benefitfocus Dream Data Network(TM).

Benefitfocus' client list includes premier national and international corporations in all fifty US states, Puerto Rico and twenty-six countries. The company's technology touches 40 million lives and serves 89,000 corporate clients.
