Beckhoff Expands Process Industry Leadership by Joining The Water Council

Both organizations share a commitment to responsible stewardship of natural resources through innovative technologies

Savage, Minnesota, September 22, 2020 – Beckhoff Automation recently strengthened its position as a solution provider in water treatment and the process industries by becoming a member of The Water Council (TWC). The Milwaukee-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit promotes innovation in freshwater technology to address critical water challenges. Likewise, the New Automation Technology philosophy at Beckhoff guides engineering developments and business decisions to ensure responsible, efficient use of natural resources.

“Because of our shared goals, joining The Water Council and collaborating with the nearly 250 other members around the globe presented an ideal partnership,” said Jesse Hill, Process Industry Manager for Beckhoff Automation LLC. “PC-based automation from Beckhoff provides significant control and IoT capabilities for process industry applications, particularly in water and wastewater. Our efforts related to this new membership will help us better understand and respond to industrial and environmental needs as we continue to innovate with resource management.”

Responsible use of resources across industries

Founded in 2009, TWC spearheads dozens of freshwater initiatives, drawing on the support and expertise of members in business, academia, government and the nonprofit sector from 20 U.S. states and 10 countries. TWC drives economic growth and technology advances in many industries that consume large quantities of water. These extend beyond water treatment, according to the organization, to consumer brands, manufacturing, agriculture, food and beverage processing, pharmaceuticals, electronics and construction – industries in which Beckhoff possesses deep technological experience.

“When it comes to managing data, Beckhoff Automation is widely recognized as a global leader, and we are honored and pleased to welcome them as a new member,” stated Dean Amhaus, CEO and President of The Water Council. “Increasingly, water managers require more information, better information and faster information, creating a growing demand for the resources offered by Beckhoff Automation.”

Beckhoff drives digital transformation for greater data insights and efficiency gains. The company’s scalable automation portfolio supports organizations of all sizes, from small startups to large municipal water treatment facilities. Beckhoff also enforces environmentally responsible business practices by providing power to production facilities using renewable sources, updating infrastructure with energy-efficient technology and offsetting any unavoidable global CO2 emissions with carbon credits.

Beckhoff and TWC: shared mission and location

TWC headquarters are located in the Global Water Center in Milwaukee, a city directly connected to the Great Lakes, the world’s largest freshwater system, and a global hub of technological innovation in water resource management. “Beckhoff is in the final stages of opening a Milwaukee office in the Global Water Center as well,” Hill said. “This new location will further solidify our partnership with The Water Council and allow closer technological collaboration to protect the world’s freshwater resources.”
